I finally found some time to edit two videos of Ludwig. He is 23 weeks old & next week he will be 6 months. WooHoo.
I've also uploaded some new pictures ... like always he is under my bed.

Here is a new picture of Ludwig outside, I have a collection going of Ludwig growing up.

Saturday was the last day of Ludwig's Puppy Kindergarten Class. We were told the week before that we would be taking pictures so we would have to arrive a little earlier than usual. What they failed to mention was that if we wanted to get the pictures we would have to pay for them. They made it seem like it was all included. On the plus side we did receive a goodie bag. Which had all kinds of stuff. I'll take a picture and update this post later on during the week.
Ludwig had a very busy day last Saturday. Not only with him going to puppy class, but he also had to go to the vet that morning for his shots & we gave him a bath. He was getting a little rip with him playing in the mud & rain. At the end of the day we was so tired he was passing out in the car on our way back home from puppy class.
Today I had to take him back to the vet because he developed an ear infection. Which they gave me some Ointment from VetOne Gentizol & an ear cleanser from Virbac Animal Health / Epi-Otic. The ointment I have to use 8-10 drops, twice a day every 12 hours & the cleanser once a day every 3-5 days. This will be going on for 2 weeks, lucky me. Then in 3 weeks its time for his next set of shots, and after that I will be able to take him out anywhere. So i guess what I'm trying to say is, that I'm behind on my videos and that I will uploaded as soon as I can. Until then … goodnight.
I took Ludwig around our neighborhood today. It was a very short walk, it must have only lasted 5-7 minutes. And by the time he got home, he looked like he was about to pass out in the water bowl. Shortly after he took a nape and now he is pop-n-fresh, ready for another round of play.
Oh I almost forgot... it's been raining in LA for a few days now and although he did play in the rain & mud, we tried to keep him from doing that. So today was the first full day of sunshine ... I decided to let Ludwig play with some bubbles. I video taped him playing today and I'll try to edit it all together this week or maybe today.
I did however edit the footage from his 2nd puppy kindergarten class. And I would have done the video from his last class, but my b/f has the video files. So hopefully I'll have some time next week to edit all that together. This coming Saturday will be his last puppy class. We were told that they will be taking pictures of the puppy at the beginning of class. This should be interesting, since my dog is the most active one and will not sit still for 5 sec if there are other things going on around him; but we will wait and see.
Here is Ludwig after our fist walk around the block.

Much as been going on these past few days with Ludwig. A few days ago Ludwig got sick and I didn't end up sleeping for two nights in a row. There is no other way of putting it, he Diarrhea. So this past Friday, Feb 6, 2008 I took him to the vet to find out what was wrong. They had me turn in a stool samples and they ran some test. They finally called me yesterday and tole me that he had "Giardiasis". Where he got it from I don't know ... all I know is that he has to take a medication called Panacur. Panacur is a white liquid he has to take every 24 hours. And since my dog eats anything, he doesn't seem to mind the taste of it, he also kicked it out of my had the other day.
Ludwig had this toy call "Zanies Long Squawk Silver" and he loves that toy so much, that I had to make a video of him playing with it called "Rubber Duckie". He chewed on it so much that he broke one of the legs off. I took the foot away from him and cut it so he wouldn't eat the plastic/latex, but now he is able to take out the stuffing, so I had to take it away from him for good. I'll have to buy him another one soon ... maybe the next one will last a little longer. (see pictures below)

I took a picture of Ludwig while he was making a puppy face and it looks like Bolt, when he was learning how to beg from Mittens, the cat.

Ludwig was enrolled in a Puppy Kindergarten Class in December and Saturday was his first day of school. The trainer talked about: house breaking, crate training, food, treats, toys, & the sit command. It was very informative and I was glad the I wasn't the only one with issues. The only thing I was kind of disappointed about was that there were only 3 dogs in the class including Ludwig. Other than that I thought the class went well.
Since I already trained my dog the basics, I just needed some help like when I give Ludwig treats. He bites my hand every time I give him a treat. The trainer showed me a easy way to stop this; you can see it in the video. I have to "pop" the lead to the side when he bites or jumps, letting him know that this behavior is not acceptable. She also went on to explain how giving a command like "no" or "slow" is not a good idea. Because we want him to take the treat gently all the time, not just when we tell him to.
Video:
I've uploaded new video of Ludwig on youtube.com if you want to check it out. It's kind of late and I don't feel up to writing a blog tonight, but I'll do it soon.
The house training seems to be going well. He waits in front of the door when he wants to go outside and hasn't had any accidents inside for a while now. I can't wait to take him to puppy kindergarten next weekend. Hopefully they will get me film him, if not I'll film him after the class is over.
I've upload some new pictures from Friday of Ludwig outside (he is 11 weeks now and will be turning 12 weeks tomorrow). I kind of want to take his picture in the same spot so I can see how he grow, but it's kind of hard to get him to be still now a days.

Well, I finally took him to the Vet today. Although, I still can't believe I forgot to take my camera. I guess I'll have to remember next month when he gets his next set of shots.
However, I did upload some more old footage I had of Ludwig when he was 7-8 weeks old.
Well, not much has happened. Except that he keeps growing. I've been keeping track of his weight since we got him and he has doubled. Ludwig came home on Dec 21, 2008 and he weighed 10 lbs. Yesterday my brother weighed him and he is now 22 lbs. He is no longer a little puffy popcorn, but a mini german shepherd.
I have a few home movies of him attacking the plant outside & of him acting crazy and hopefully I'll have some time his weekend to upload them.
Oh, I almost forgot I do have a tiny clip of him at the Vet's waiting room, but I'll wait to upload it since he has to go back this weekend. I'll edit them together and upload them at the same time.
I would like to know what Ludwig is thinking sometimes, because he doesn't some weird and wacky stuff. Like when I clean his water bowl, located outside. I generally use the hose to clean and fill up his bowl and every time I do this he comes over and tries to get at the water. So I've documented this even and uploaded it to youtube for you to watch.
I had some free time today to edit and upload 3 home movies of Ludwig on YouTube.
I found a video of him and me playing outside 5 days after we picked him up. And he looks so small. I can't believe he is getting bigger every day. Some times I wish that he can stay a puppy forever. Movie titled: Outside
While waiting for my puppy Ludwig to come home I was doing some research and came across this great toy called the "Buster Cube". I found a German Shepherd playing with it on YouTube and I thought it would be a great toy to have. Ludwig loves it, well only when it gives him treats. Movie titled: Buster Cube - 9wks
The last movie I uploaded was a new trick he learned today, it is the "leave it" command. He picked it up very quickly and even remembered it later on in the day. Which was great and I even put treats on both paws. I've also added a clip of him doing the "roll over" command. Movie titled: New Trick :: Leave It
I've noticed for days now that Ludwig likes going under the bed to sleep, if he doesn't start there he almost always ends up there. This time I caught him just in time to take a picture.

Another first for Ludwig, New Years Eve:
During the day I decided to take Ludwig outside to play in the sun and to get him tired before our guess arrive. Ludwig is unlike most of the dogs we had in the past, he actually enjoys being outside. Its kind of hard to convince him to come inside after playing. I took this opportunity to take some pictures of him. It was kind of hard to get him to model for the camera, since he keep on trying to eat it. But eventually he settle down and I managed to got a few good pictures before he went running off (see below).
